Nowadays we are hearing about lots of scam most of the known scam is “Microsoft tech support scam” in this blog I will tell you how to save yourself from this scam. Scammers made cold calls to computer users and once they connect they will convince the user that his/her computer have viruses and ask them to share computer screen to fix the problem. Scammer use the “event help.microsoft.com talk to a person viewer” to convince computer user to get computer access, event viewer capture event logs of computer it has record of significant logs on your computer these logs will update you about your computer state these are not harmful you clear them by right click and select clear logs. Cold callers call computer user and claim that they are from Microsoft and getting errors and warnings from computer and convince them to share computer screen then ask for $$$ to fix the problem, we all know Microsoft will never call any one for money.
Scammers can do the
following things-
- Installing malicious software on your computer to capture sensitive information. They will charge you to remove the software.
- They can use legitimate websites kike (www.ammyy.com) to gain access of your computer and then leave it vulnerable.
- Ask you for card information to charge you for fixing your computer.
- Direct you to fraud and scam website to enter your card information.
How to avoid Microsoft
scam?
If someone calls you and using Microsoft name-
- Don’t buy any service or software.
- Ask is there any fee for the service, if there is then hung up.
- Never give control of your computer to any unknown person or company unless you already associated with them.
- Collect the relevant information from the caller and report to authorities.
- Never provide your card information if they claiming from Microsoft.
Report the scam
- In USA use the FTC Complaint Assistant form.
- If you are in Canada Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre will help you.
- From UK you can contact fraud and unsolicited calls.

If you already gave
the information follow the below steps.
- Change your computer, Main Email Account and Banking passwords immediately.
- Scan your your computer with anti malware to find out is there any malware installed in your computer or not.
- Install Microsoft Security essentials it’s a free from Microsoft website.
